Madder Rose was founded in London in 2020, with the aim of creating timeless clothing that you can wear over and over; that you can move in, work in, play in, relax in; that you can feel good in and about.

Each piece is thoughtfully designed and carefully made by hand in my studio in Tottenham using  natural materials, mostly linen. I use vintage, locally-sourced, reclaimed or deadstock textiles to reduce ecological harm.

Most pieces are made to order – please get in touch if you'd like a different size, I may be able to accommodate. It's important to me that anyone and everyone can wear these clothes.

Materials

In order to reduce the environmental impact of this clothing as much as possible, I often use deadstock fabrics (the excess leftover from commercial textile manufacturing) and antique/vintage materials. This means I can't always be 100% sure of the fabric composition, and some pieces will only be available in very limited editions! Every effort is made to ensure that all fabrics used are entirely natural. Since most of the items are made from 100% linen, which does not have much give or stretch, please take care when putting on or taking off your garments.

Care Instructions

Madder Rose garments are made to last, but natural materials will weaken over time (although this can be a shame, it is also a positive! They will naturally break down and if you so choose, you could put them on your compost!) I hope you'll take care of these clothes, and wear them for a long time. Holes can be patched, straps stitched back in, etc. Please get in touch if you need advice on mending :)

I advise washing these items on a max. 30 degree wash, and even hand-washing or using a delicates cycle when you can. Lower temperatures and hang-drying will increase the life of your garment and reduce your carbon footprint!

Colours

I try to display the colours of these products on the website as accurately as possible but please note that photography can sometimes alter the colour of items, and as computer monitors, tablets and mobile devices vary, I can't guarantee that colours will be exactly as they appear on your device. If you'd like more pictures of the fabric just shout! Please note some of my items are dyed using natural dyes which fade naturally over time. I see this as a positive, time gradually imbuing the garments with a unique character :--)
